Holy crap...I'm a personal trainer...With a client!! I love the sound of that!
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted since I passed the PT exam on Friday. Not that it would have been the end of the world if I didn't pass, but I put a lot of pressure on myself to succeed. The days leading up to the exam reminded me of the week before my BQ attempt at Philly last year. I had a lot of anxiety about how the day would turn out but in the end, I knew I did everything I could to get ready for it. See, when I really want something I usually push myself to the point where not getting it isn't even an option. I obsess over it, push myself and let it consume my every thought. Maybe not the healthiest mindset, but it's how I'm wired and it's what works for me. Once again, just like that BQ, I was so happy I was able to come back to all of you on Friday and tell you that I passed. There's something about putting your goals out there for anyone to see that makes reaching them all the more important.
So now that exam is behind me, I not only feel a sense of relief, I feel like I have a new set of standards to live by. As I got ready for my long run this weekend and went back and forth in my head about whether or not I really had to eat while I was out there, it hit me. I have to practice what I preach. There are more times than I'd like to admit that I take pretty terrible care of myself when it comes to nutrition and training and I would never tell a client to do that to themselves. It really hit me like a ton of bricks this weekend. I need to take better care of myself so I can take great care of my future clients. Maybe this is what I finally needed to see how important it is to live a healthy lifestyle. Not just be fit and workout, but to actually be healthy about it.
Now that another big goal is crossed off my list, I'm left wondering what will be next. I'm sure it won't take me long to find something else, though. I always have to have something going on!! I'm thinking the nutrition certification will be my next step.
Question: would anyone be interested in a weekly post about fitness/training/lifting? You can leave a question in the comments and each week I'll pick one to answer. Let me know what you think!

Congrats! I like your attitude about being a good example by how you train and how you live.

I would love a weekend training post- especially about lifting...mostly because I hate it, dread it and wish I had more of a lifting routine...perhaps that would help me.

Oh man, look out running world! If you're really in a position to improve how you treat your body, I can't imagine how much more you will accomplish.
Looks like it's already been decided about the Q&A, very cool.
